Nearly 90 Years of Family-Owned Craftsmanship Since 1938, Friedrichs has been a family-owned business built on craftsmanship, adaptability, and a commitment to quality. Edwin Jerome Friedrichs aka “Big Jerry“ founded Friedrichs Woodworking in 1938. For more than four decades, Jerry guided the company as it evolved from a traditional woodworking operation into a business combining woodworking and metal fabrication. In 1980, the company entered its next chapter. The business was incorporated as Friedrichs Custom Manufacturing, Inc., and Jerry's son, Wynne Friedrichs, officially took the reins. Wynne had already been working in the family business prior to the incorporation and brought his experience and knowledge of the company into its second generation of family leadership. Under Wynne's leadership, Friedrichs Custom Manufacturing continued to expand its capabilities and establish itself as a manufacturer of quality, durable products. Over the past several decades, the company has become particularly known for its crowd control barricades, serving customers who depend on reliable equipment for events, venues, municipalities, and other crowd-management applications. The third generation of the Friedrichs family joined the business in 1998, when Chris Friedrichs came aboard immediately after graduating from the University of New Orleans. After more than 25 years with the company, Chris officially took the reins in 2025, continuing the family tradition into its third generation. Today, Friedrichs remains committed to the same principles that have guided the company since 1938: quality craftsmanship, dependable products, and personal service. Three generations.
